"Our creative dreams and yearnings come from a divine source.

As we move toward our dreams, we move toward our divinity."

~Julia Cameron, The Artists Way

Heart of Desire

98,000 words

Investigative journalist Tess Shearer is burnt out on

her career and through with relationships. If jogging

into the arms of womanizer President Harrison

Cantrell Henry weren't trouble enough, she finds

herself pregnant after the trysts end.

Now her only heart's desire is a quiet life with her

daughter, Mikka. But the precocious toddler isn't

just Henry's lovechild. Mikka's paternity and her

talents - advanced artistic skills and the strange

ability to transcend time and space -

are secrets Tess knows she must keep.

Only her secrets aren't safe. When President Henry

is assassinated inside the White House after

announcing his intent to end U.S manufacture of

the gasoline engine, Tess knows his secrets weren't

safe, either.

On their last night together more than three years

before, the beleaguered president had mentioned

ET reviewers and other gibberish . . . on top of the

world's pressing environmental crisis, could all the

crazy internet stuff about government conspiracies

and UFO disclosure be true?

Tess asks a pair of upbeat ministers for assistance

as controversies surrounding Henry's death begin

to explode. The Updikes reveal their discovery of a

Bible Code prophecy about a mysterious "Starchild"

whose fate is linked with President Henry's. And

they insist that meeting another hunk is her

best hope.

Carson Hodges, a Native American healer, charms

Tess and Mikka and steers them one step ahead of

trouble. That is, until Henry escapes a secret

underground military base and stumbles into

Arizona's high desert wilderness.

Can a Starchild's wisdom shield them before an

extraterrestrial agenda snares them all?

Mikka pursed her lips. “I see pictures. I put them on paper,” she said, trying to translate adult concepts into words. “The paper talks to my fingers.”

A little person lay in a crumpled heap, the rounded, pale face peeking like a snow lion from a hood rimmed with a white stripe. A coppery curl escaped the shiny lavender hood and played in the wind like a tiny butterfly.

I turned the pickup around, ground the unfamiliar gears and congratulated myself on my lucky strike. As I settled into the feel of the truck, I parade waved to an imaginary audience lining the road — President Henry does Podunk City.
